Singer and rapper Heize (Jang Da-Hye) has achieved a lot of success since her 2014 debut. Her rise in popularity can be attributed to her participation in the South Korean all female Hip-Hop competition show Unpretty Rapstar where both underground and popular artists showcase their rap talent to well known producers in the industry and the public. Although Heize did not win the second season of the show she gained a larger fanbase to share her love for R&B and Hip-Hop with. Her 2016 single “Star” achieved a great accomplishment as it topped all the Korean music charts on its release. Her songs have also been featured in popular South Korean dramas like her 2017 hit Round and Round with Han Soo-Ji featured in the original soundtrack for the popular drama Goblin: The Lonely and Great God. Heize has also had the opportunity to work with artists like DEAN, Giriboy, Jay Park and other well known Hip-Hop and R&B artists. She has won the Best Hip-Hop and Urban Music award and Best Female Vocal Performance award in 2017 at the Mnet Asian Music Awards and has been nominated for many more ultimately recognizing Heize for her hard work and dedication to music Heize’s star power stretches beyond the borders of South Korea as her participation in KCON in 2018 showed just how popular she and her music is in the United States. She released her first studio album in 2019 titled She’s Fine and recently completed a successful tour across North America.
